This hidden Korean restaurant next to hmart is really good! The decoration inside was really cute and homey. They specialize in natural Korean food, and it was delicious. I really liked the side dishes and the bean stew. The food was filling and satisfying. They had a buzzer by the table for service, so you just had to press it anytime you needed a waiter.
Jang Dok Dae is absolutely amazing! The food is incredibly yummy--so full of flavor and perfectly cooked. Every dish we tried was a hit! On top of that, the servers are the sweetest and make you feel so welcome. Their kindness and attentiveness really added to the experience. The marinades at Jang Dok Dae are so good--they're packed with flavor and make everything super tender and delicious. The small bites, like the kimchi and pickled radishes, are fresh and flavorful, and they really bring the whole meal together. Everything feels homemade and thoughtful, like you're eating at a friend's house who really knows how to cook. Such a great spot! Highly recommend this spot for great food and even better service!
Pretty good Korean food with friendly staff. Homey and cozy feeling with mostly Korean elders eating on a Friday night. 4.5 stars for me - actually everything was quite good but nothing wow-ed me! Would def return though to try other items. Cold noodles were very good. Ginseng chicken soup was good but not much ginseng flavor. Kalbi was good and so was the spicy fish soup.
Came here for a girls night before going to karaoke upstairs. It was 6 of us so we all ordered different dishes. I got the cold noodles dish to cool down from the scorching heat that day. Noodles were good and perfectly seasoned. I didn't get to try the other girls dishes but they all looked pretty good. I took pics of all the dishes to show here for people who likes pictures over words.
We came here because of the spicy marinated crab (available in combo 2 and 3). It is spicy, not fishy, a decent meal combo factor in the price. We also tried something more aggressive/traditional Korean type dish, the cold buckwheat noodle with conch and sea squirt, conch is nice, sea squirt is too much for us. Recommend to people that want to try traditional Korean dishes. For anyone that does not know Korean, it locates to the left of H-mart, and look for the small English name under Korean characters.
Probably could rate it 4.5. The side dishes were good. The grilled mackerel is really good I recommend if you like fish. The gam ja tang was good but not the best I've had. Overall a solid option for traditional Korean food.
The food here seemed to be more traditional with prices being on the higher end. I had the variety of pork meat w/ pork broth. The stew had a nice aroma and was pretty healthy. I had imagined there to be more pork since the description pretty much mentioned "variety" of pork meat. Eating it in junction with the white rice helped made it more filling. If I only consumed the stew alone, it would not have cut it in making me content. The hubs had the combo 3: spicy marinated crab + grilled mackerel + bean paste stew. * Spicy marinated crab: It was pretty much a whole, raw crab that had been fermented. With crab, there's not a lot of meat, and you have to work at getting to the meat which was messy. I'm not a fan, and the hubs said it was okay for its uniqueness but that he prob wouldn't order it again. * Grilled mackerel: It was a sizable fish, and it was pretty tasty and healthy. Because of its portion and taste, I would get whatever combo or entree that have this for future visits. * Bean paste stew: Hearty and flavorful. I'm definitely a fan! Not a lot of Korean places offer this so it's a special treat for me. The soup here seemed to be in a slightly smaller pot, but it had veggies and herbs that differed from other bean paste stews that were thicker. I've been on the fence about writing a review since I felt portions could have been better, especially with the higher prices. The hubs said that he left feeling content and wasn't at all full. My review sits squarely at 3 1/2, but 4 stars it is.
My family went to get the potato stew with pork. The soup was super delicious and very spicy. This dish comes with a bowl of rice and lots of banchans (side dishes). If you're looking for a healthy Korean restaurant to go to, this is the place to go!
Jang Dok Dae provides an authentic experience. Things you should know: I. LOCATION Within the same plaza as the Super HMart. There's free and convenient private parking out front. II. SERVICE No complaints. Quick. III. QUALITY Good IV. CAPACITY Slow at first, but as dinner time progressed passed 6:30 the amount of people in the restaurant ramped up. There wasn't a wait for seating for a Thursday evening.
3 things about this place: 1. This place has been a spot to go to every time I visited Georgia. Haven't been here in a couple of years and needed to come because of previous positive experiences. The place was clean with great environment where I felt like I was in Korea. The lady serving was extremely friendly and always had a smile. 2. Fermented soybean paste stew + grilled mackerel, ox bone stew (seol long tang), and cabbage hangover soup were ordered. The taste hasn't changed and was the same from the last time I was here. The side dishes were on point. Every side dishes were phenomenal and had a clean after taste. Quality of the soups and side dishes were literally perfect and couldn't have been better. 3. I cannot emphasize how cheap the pricing on the menu was. So cheap. Can't really beat the price for the quality and quantity that you will be getting. Overall, from the last time I was here which was couple of years ago, nothing has changed and couldn't have been more satisfied with the meals today. This will always be a go to restaurant and definitely recommend this place to people who look for authentic Korean soup.
